There are many types of splines, the common ones are rectangular splines, involute splines, triangular splines, etc.; the forming methods are also different, depending on the influence of the workpiece material, heat treatment state, precision requirements, batch size, etc. The commonly used methods can be divided into the following five types:
1. Drawing and pushing: high precision, good quality stability, suitable for mass production.
2. Milling processing: forming cutters and tooling with appropriate precision can produce products with higher precision and stable quality, suitable for single-piece or mass production, with average efficiency.
3. Gear hobbing: The method of machining gears using the generative method is only suitable for the forming of involute splines.
4. Grinding processing: The precision requirements are very high, and conventional processing methods are difficult to achieve. It can grind the tooth tip circle, tooth root garden or both sides of the spline to improve the processing accuracy and meet the assembly or use requirements.
5. One-time molding, using precision casting and forging one-time molding; it can also be formed through powder metallurgy at one time; the production process requires more precise molds to ensure its accuracy, which is suitable for large-volume production scales, and the precision requirements of workpieces are relatively low.
